At some point in time in the l98O’s- Corporate Security officers passed the point of being simply rent—a—cops, and became actual peace officers. The changes in laws started in the United States, first in the state of Ontario, then within the next 5 years had spread to the federal level- and by 1992, most countries in the world had followed suit. This was heavily influenced by the growing political power of the Corps themselves, and gave CorpSecs greater power until they became the law while on Corp property.
Today, they have full arrest powers, detainment, and some paramilitary powers, making CorpSec units more like private armies than police forces. while they still have to abide by what laws are affecting all Peace Officers, they win most jurisdiction disputes involving Corp property and even have some limited powers off said property.
