We're coming down to the end of this issue.  We have script started for the next one (to be honest, the first six issues are plotted, but I have made so many changes to this one as I was working on it that all I am retaining is the 6 issue arc plot.  The script outlines got trashed and I am rebuilding them.

Pitching NO-Earth

Pitching NO-Earth published on

This page is being set up to list the submission guidelines for NO-Earth.

Let’s start with the Pitch.  The pitch is what you are going to send us first.  It should start off about a page long, but it will grow as it goes through the pitch process.

First, please set all pitches firmly in one of the 14 Time Frames listed in the Time Line.  This is a shared universe, and setting a story in a time that no one else is working in prevents the interconnections and crossovers that are part of the NO-Earth plan.

Next, make sure that your pitch is firmly set within the NO-Earth setting.  If it feels shoe-horned in, it’s not going to be well recieved.  We have a unique world, so frankly, if your pitch could be set in any generic world, I am going to wind up asking why this is a NO-Earth pitch.  We want ideas that build on the world, and add to it, not just your generic ideas that you are shopping around.

And finally, the pitch should not just include the plot and character ideas, but should also include the theme, what areas you want to explore, where you see this fitting in with other books that are already in production.   This is your chance to show us why you feel that this idea is destined to be an integeral part of the NO-Earth world.

You don’t have to be a writer to do a Pitch.  An artist is more than welcome to do it, and then we will find a writer to write it.  But the important part here is getting the pitch done, getting it through the editorial process, and getting it on the Collaborations board so that we can put it into production.

So what makes a pitch compelling?  You are attempting to craft a sales pitch that makes me and the other members of the Editorial Board want to read the book.  You can’t just aim it at one of us, because right now there are 4 people looking at it, and we all have very different tastes.  Think of it as a really ugly Shark Tank, in that you need 3 of the 4 of us to decide to greenlight your pitch and send it into the script stage.

So, there have been a lot of changes going on, both on the site and behind the scenes.  One of the biggest is that we have been revamping the site all the way around.  Little things for the most part, but my time has been spent improving the site where I could to make the experience better for everyone.

Our staff is also expanding.  We have new people coming on, and there’s a lot of work being done on various comic projects.  I will mostly be releasing those on Twitter so that I don’t clog up the blog postings with incidental information.

One of the things that we have done is streamline the entire editorial process by utilising Google Docs for the writing process.  All of our scripts and pitches are now being evaluated on that platform, giving the writer and the Editorial Board a chance to work together to bring in the best writing that each author can produce.  Of course, in some ways this makess the process more brutal for the writer, but getting quick feedback from experienced people who are not worried about your ego is what every writer should be wanting.

And for those of you in Dallas, stop by the booth at the Dallas Comic Show this weekend.  We’re looking forward to meeting our fans.

First page of this.  While NO-Earth has always been a Sci-Fi friendly venue, this is the first title that aims specifically at that niche.

The Writer is Sam Clevensy, which also makes this the first comic we've posted that was not written by me.  I am pretty excited by that, since this is a CO-OP which means encouraging new creators to create!  The art is being handled by Jeremy Nolasco, so this is another chance for us to give a brand new artist a way to expand their craft.

  I hope you enjoy it!

Some news on a new project!

Some news on a new project! published on

So this is the concept art for our new humour series.  It’s set at the Metahuman Observer, and will follow the lives of the reporters, and the people that they interact with.

We’re using Comipo to do this one, just so we can get the pages out fast when a joke comes to mind.  It’s a Manga style programme, but allows us to put together a humour strip quickly and easily.  In fact, if you have experience with Comipo and would like to help, let us know.

So keep an eye out, we should start posting pages of this soon.
